Campervan Division South – Central Midlands Alliance
Run-in Focus: 17 April 2026
The Central Midlands Alliance title race may have taken a twist at the top—but Selston remain the ones to watch.
Despite sitting in second place in the latest standings, there is a strong sense that the destiny of the title still runs through Selston. A single point separates them from leaders Graham Street Prims, but crucially, Selston have a game in hand—and that could prove decisive.
Selston’s season has been built on something far more reliable than short bursts of form: consistency.
While others around them have stumbled or surged in patches, Selston have quietly kept accumulating points. Wins have come regularly, defeats have been rare, and even when they’ve dropped points, they’ve responded positively.
A 0–0 draw at Borrowash may yet be seen as a valuable point rather than two lost. It kept a direct rival at arm’s length and maintained Selston’s position firmly in the race.
Defensively, Selston have been one of the strongest sides in the division. They don’t concede many, and that foundation has allowed them to edge tight games—exactly the kind of matches that define championships at this level.
Going forward, they’ve been efficient rather than explosive. They may not boast the goal tallies of Melbourne Dynamo, but they score enough—and more importantly, they score when it matters.
Unlike Graham Street Prims, who have played more games and must keep looking over their shoulder, Selston know that if they win their remaining fixtures, the title is in their hands.
And then there’s the fixture that could decide everything:
Selston vs Graham Street Prims.
It’s more than just a match—it’s a potential title decider. Win that, and Selston not only has reclaim top spot, but seize momentum at exactly the right moment.
Of course, there is another threat emerging.
Borrowash Victoria’s rise into third place adds a new layer of complexity. With games in hand and strong form, they represent the unknown variable in this race. But even here, Selston have already shown they can compete, taking a point away in a difficult fixture.
As the run-in reaches its climax, everything is still on the line. Selston, Graham Street Prims and a fast-closing Borrowash Victoria are all within striking distance, with big games and bigger moments still to come. With a potential title decider looming and every point now crucial, there’s no better time to get down to the Parish and watch it unfold—because this is a finish that promises drama, tension, and a champion decided the hard way.
Next up are FC Sunnyhill at home on the Parish Hall Ground on Saturday 18th April, kicking off at 15:00.

Selston FC 4 – 0 Blidworth Welfare FC
Central Midlands Alliance Premier South
14 April 2026 | Attendance: 94
Selston FC continued their impressive run of form with a commanding 4–0 victory over Blidworth Welfare under the lights at The Parish.
On a cool and blustery evening, Manager Lee Stevenson made two changes to his starting XI, with Bowering and Layton coming in for Moore and Hardman, while Elliott Bland returned to the bench.
Selston started on the front foot, stretching the visitors early with Hines and Reynolds instrumental in driving attacks and forcing a series of corners. The breakthrough came on 7 minutes when a dangerous delivery from Jack Cockram caused problems in the box, with Tom Batterham reacting quickest to take a touch and finish via the post.
The hosts doubled their lead on 17 minutes following excellent build-up play from Bowering and Reynolds, with Batterham’s effort taking a significant deflection to wrong-foot the goalkeeper and make it 2–0.
Selston were in complete control and continued to press forward, with Cockram at the heart of everything. On 40 minutes, his driven effort was well saved, but Batterham was once again in the right place to fire home through a crowded box and complete his hat-trick.
Half-Time: Selston FC 3 – 0 Blidworth Welfare FC
Selston began the second half as they ended the first, controlling possession and using the slope to their advantage to pin the visitors back. With a busy run of fixtures ahead, Stevenson took the opportunity to rotate his squad. Hardman and Bland were introduced on 57 minutes for Hines and Reynolds, before Moore replaced hat-trick hero Batterham on 68.
In a notable moment, Stevenson brought himself on in the 78th minute for Cockram, making his first appearance of the season as Selston looked to see the game out professionally.
The changes did little to disrupt Selston’s rhythm, and on 86 minutes the hosts added a fourth. A superb defence-splitting pass from Stevenson released Alex Hardman, who continued his fine scoring form by racing through and finishing confidently to make it 4–0.
At the other end, Branon Meehan preserved his excellent clean sheet record, comfortably dealing with one of Blidworth’s few efforts — a strike from distance — to record Selston’s sixth clean sheet in seven matches.
Selston saw out the closing stages with ease, securing a dominant victory that keeps them firmly in the hunt for the title.
Full-Time: Selston FC 4 – 0 Blidworth Welfare FC
Man of the Match
Tom Batterham – A clinical and composed hat-trick performance, leading the line superbly and taking his chances with confidence.
Manager’s Comment – Lee Stevenson
“I thought we were excellent tonight. We started quickly, took control of the game early and never really let them get a foothold.
It was important to manage the squad with the number of games we’ve got coming up, and I was really pleased with how the changes came in and maintained the level.
Tom was outstanding with his finishing, and Alex coming on and continuing his form is a real positive for us.
Defensively we’re in a really strong place at the moment — six clean sheets in seven speaks for itself.
We’re in a good position, but we know there’s still a lot of work to do.”

Borrowash Victoria FC 0 – 0 Selston FC
Central Midlands Alliance Premier South
11 April 2026
Selston FC extended their impressive defensive run with a hard-fought goalless draw away at title rivals Borrowash Victoria in a tense top-of-the-table clash.
Manager Lee Stevenson made two changes from the midweek victory over Gresley, with Jake Payling and Jordan Black coming into the side, while Mason England was forced out after picking up an injury in the warm-up. Archie Hawkins returned to the bench, with Stevenson also naming himself among the substitutes.
In blustery conditions, Borrowash looked to utilise the wind advantage in the first half, applying pressure with direct play. However, Selston’s defence stood firm, with Ty Short and Josh Smith particularly outstanding, dealing comfortably with everything thrown their way. When called upon, Brannon Meehan was alert and assured behind them.
The home side’s best opportunity came on 32 minutes when an inswinging corner, caught by the wind, struck the base of the post — a let-off for the visitors.
Half-Time: Borrowash Victoria 0 – 0 Selston FC
Selston emerged stronger in the second half, with Ben Moore and Alex Hardman taking control in midfield. The visitors began to impose themselves, with Hines and Black providing width and attacking intent, though clear-cut chances remained limited against a well-organised home defence.
Borrowash introduced former professional Marcus Tudgay in an attempt to turn the game, but Selston continued to defend resolutely, with Smith in imperious form at the heart of the back line.
Late substitutions saw Hawkins and Laytonenter the fray, with Hawkins injecting energy and creativity as Selston pushed for a winner, forcing a series of corners in the closing stages. However, neither side could find the decisive breakthrough.
The result sees Selston record their fifth clean sheet in six matches, underlining their defensive strength as the season reaches its crucial phase.
Player of the Match
Josh Smith – A commanding and composed display at the heart of the defence, dealing superbly with a physical and direct attacking threat.
Manager’s Comment – Lee Stevenson
“It shows the standards we’re setting when the dressing room is disappointed with a point away at one of the top sides in the division.
The lads battled really well in difficult conditions and against a strong opponent. Defensively we were excellent again, and Josh was outstanding at the heart of it.
It was a game neither side could really afford to lose, and I thought we showed good maturity in how we managed it.
The fixtures are coming thick and fast now, but the squad is focused and fully committed to achieving our goals.”

Selston FC 3 – 2 Gresley Rovers Reserves
Central Midlands Alliance Premier South
08th April 2026 | Attendance: 103
Selston FC continued their relentless push for the title with a hard-earned and entertaining 3–2 victory over Gresley Rovers Reserves on a warm evening at The Parish.
Manager Lee Stevenson made four changes from the weekend win over Mickleover RBL, bringing in England, Reynolds, Batterham and Hines, and his side couldn’t have asked for a better start. Straight from kick-off, a flowing move involving three quick passes released Jack Cockram wide, whose excellent delivery was met by Nick Hines, glancing a looping header over the goalkeeper inside the opening minute.
Selston dominated the early exchanges, moving the ball well and looking dangerous down the flanks, but were caught out against the run of play when Wynne was afforded space on the edge of the box and calmly slotted into the bottom corner to level the scores.
The game opened up into a competitive contest, with both sides enjoying spells of possession. Selston looked the more composed, with Ben Moore dictating play from midfield, while at the back they remained largely solid. A forced change on 41 minutes saw Jordan Black replace the injured Mason England, and the sides went into the break level.
Half-Time: Selston FC 1 – 1 Gresley Rovers Reserves
The second half mirrored the first in dramatic fashion, with Gresley striking almost immediately. Wynne again was involved, delivering a dangerous ball into the box that found Bowen, who finished via the post to give the visitors the lead.
Selston responded with urgency and intent. Moore continued to drive the team forward, linking play and breaking up opposition attacks, while the wide players looked to stretch the game. The equaliser arrived on 61 minutes when a dangerous ball into the area wasn’t dealt with, allowing Jordan Black to react quickest and slot home from close range.
With momentum firmly back on their side, Selston pushed on and were rewarded on 69 minutes. A pinpoint free-kick from Cockram found Josh Smith, who rose superbly to glance a header into the bottom corner, sparking jubilant scenes around the ground.
Stevenson looked to manage the closing stages, introducing Layton for the tiring Batterham on 84 minutes. The final moments were feisty and hard-fought, with Gresley pressing for an equaliser, but Selston’s defence stood firm, showing resilience and composure under pressure.
The final whistle confirmed a vital three points for Selston, keeping them firmly in the hunt for the title and promotion.
Player of the Match
Ben Moore – A commanding and tireless midfield display, combining leadership, composure, and relentless work rate to drive Selston through a tough contest.
Manager’s Comment – Joint Manager Ben Moore
“It was a proper battle tonight and I’m really proud of how the lads responded. We started brilliantly, and even when we were pegged back or went behind, there was never any panic.
The character and togetherness in this group is outstanding — you can see how much they fight for each other. We had to show a different side to our game at times, digging in and putting bodies on the line, but we also played some really good football in spells.
There’s still a long way to go, so it’s about staying calm, recovering well, and keeping that focus right through to the end of the season.”

Selston FC 1 – 0 Mickleover RBL
Central Midlands Alliance Premier South
04 April 2026 | Attendance: 72
Scorer: Own Goal (45’)
Selston continued their push for promotion with a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Mickleover RBL at The Parish on Easter weekend, in a game heavily dictated by difficult conditions.
Manager Lee Stevenson made four changes to the side that won last time out, with Haywood, Cockram, Moore and Hawkins coming into the starting XI.
In dry but blustery conditions, the wind proved to be the dominant factor throughout, making fluid football difficult for both sides. Selston started the brighter, with Josh Smith forcing an early save on four minutes, rising well to meet an inswinging corner only to see the goalkeeper gather comfortably.
Chances remained limited as both teams battled the elements, though Selston held a slight edge in possession and territory, using the wind to deliver dangerous balls into the box.
The game was briefly halted on 26 minutes when the assistant referee was forced off through injury, with an RBL substitute stepping in to run the line following discussions between both benches.
Selston took the lead on the stroke of half-time. A dangerous inswinging corner from Jack Cockram caused confusion in the visitors’ box, with the goalkeeper’s attempted punch ricocheting off his own defender and into the net.
Half-Time: Selston FC 1 – 0 Mickleover RBL
The second half followed a similar pattern, with few clear-cut chances. Archie Hawkins stood out for Selston, showing composure in difficult conditions and consistently driving the team forward, linking well with Layton and Bowering.
Stevenson made changes to freshen things up, introducing Reynolds for Layton on 63 minutes, and Hines for Hawkins on 72. Ward was also introduced late on as Selston looked to see the game out.
With Branon Meehan commanding his area well, Selston remained solid at the back. After an extended period of stoppage time, the referee finally brought proceedings to a close, securing a valuable three points.
The result keeps Selston firmly in the title race, with added encouragement coming from elsewhere as league leaders Graham Street Prims suffered defeat.
Player of the Match
Archie Hawkins – A composed and determined performance after returning from illness, constantly looking to drive Selston forward in very challenging conditions.
Manager’s Comment – Lee Stevenson
“It wasn’t a pretty game, but in conditions like that it was always going to be about finding a way to win, and the lads did exactly that.
I thought we managed the game well, stayed disciplined, and took advantage of a key moment. Defensively we were solid again, and that’s giving us a real platform at the moment.
It was good to have a full week without a midweek fixture as well — the players needed that rest, especially with what’s coming next. We’ve got a really busy period ahead with three games a week through April, so we’ll need the whole squad ready.
We’ll recover, reset, and go again on Wednesday night under the lights against Gresley Rovers Reserves.”

Selston FC 2 – 0 Mickleover Athletic
Central Midlands Alliance Premier South
28 March 2026 | Attendance: 108
Scorers: Layton (35’), Black (42’)
Selston marked National Non-League Day with a composed and professional 2–0 victory over an in-form Mickleover Athletic side at The Parish.
Manager Lee Stevenson made three changes to the starting XI, with Layton, Reynolds and Bowering coming in for Cockram, Moore and Bland, and his side started with real intent in blustery conditions. Nick Hines and Colt Reynolds were particularly influential, driving Selston forward and creating a number of early chances, with Hines, Jordan Black, and George Layton all going close.
The breakthrough came on 35 minutes. After racing through on goal, Black saw his initial effort blocked but reacted superbly to slide a precise pass across the box to Layton, who made no mistake from 10 yards to fire Selston ahead.
Selston doubled their lead on 42 minutes in determined fashion. Black again found himself through on goal and, despite being clattered by the goalkeeper, regained his footing to slot home and make it 2–0 heading into the break.
Half-Time: Selston FC 2 – 0 Mickleover Athletic
The second half saw Selston manage the game expertly. Mickleover looked to respond, but the hosts remained organised and resolute, limiting the visitors to very few opportunities. When called upon, Brandon Meehan commanded his area well and ensured Selston maintained their clean sheet.
Stevenson used the opportunity to rotate his squad, with Batterham, Moore, Haywood and Ward all introduced in the second half.
Selston continued to control proceedings without adding to the scoreline, seeing out what was a comfortable and assured victory to keep their title push firmly on track.
Full Time: Selston FC 2 – 0 Mickleover Athletic
Player of the Match
Alex Hardman – An industrious and combative display in midfield, breaking up play with key tackles and consistently driving Selston forward.
Manager’s Comment – Lee Stevenson
“I’m really pleased with that performance. Mickleover came here in good form, so we knew it would be a tough game, but I thought we controlled it really well from start to finish.
The first half especially, we played some excellent football and probably should have been further ahead. The second half was about being disciplined and professional, and I thought the lads handled that side of the game brilliantly.
Another clean sheet is really important for us, and it shows the work the whole team is putting in defensively.
We’re in a strong position, but we need to keep that focus and intensity going into next week.”

Selston FC 2 – 0 AFC Borrowash Victoria
Central Midlands Alliance Premier South
21 March 2026 | Attendance: 104
Scorers: Reynolds (37’), Short (83’)
A bright, sunny afternoon at The Parish set the stage for a top-of-the-table clash as league leaders Selston FC welcomed title rivals AFC Borrowash Victoria — and the hosts delivered a composed and professional performance to secure a crucial three points.
Manager Lee Stevenson made four changes from the midweek victory over Cromford, with Cockram returning as captain alongside Short, Moore and Bland, while Bowering, Layton, Black and Hawkins dropped out of the starting XI, the latter missing through illness.
Selston started strongly, dominating possession and setting the tempo, with Tom Batterham leading the line superbly. Despite plenty of endeavour, clear-cut chances were limited until the breakthrough on 37 minutes. A superb header forward from Ben Moore released Batterham, who held the ball up before laying it into the path of Colt Reynolds, who took a touch and fired into the bottom corner from 20 yards.
The visitors attempted to disrupt the rhythm with a physical approach, resulting in Jake Payling being cautioned on 44 minutes, but Selston went into the break with a deserved 1–0 lead.
Borrowash started the second half brightly, but Selston remained disciplined, dealing well with direct balls and long throws. Stevenson introduced Jordan Black for the tireless Batterham on 69 minutes, followed by Nick Hines for goalscorer Reynolds on 77.
The decisive second goal arrived on 83 minutes when a long ball into the box caused confusion, allowing Ty Short to finish confidently from close range before celebrating with a somersault by the corner flag.
Further substitutions saw Bowering, Layton and Ward introduced as Selston saw out the game comfortably.
A deserved victory keeps Selston firmly at the top of the table heading into Tuesday’s trip to FC Sunnyhill.
Man of the Match
Ty Short – A colossal defensive display, dominant in the air and composed throughout, while also capping his performance with a well-taken goal.
Manager’s Comment – Lee Stevenson
“That’s a big win for us against a very good side. We knew what they’d bring — physical, direct, and difficult to play against — but I thought we handled it really well.
The lads showed real discipline and maturity. We controlled the game for long periods and stayed patient when chances were limited. The first goal was excellent build-up play, and the second just shows our willingness to keep going and put the game to bed.
Ty was outstanding at the back and fully deserved his goal. Performances like that are what you need at this stage of the season.
We’re in a strong position, but nothing’s won yet. We’ll recover quickly and focus on another tough test on Tuesday night.”

Selston FC 6 – 0 Cromford & Wirksworth Town
Central Midlands Alliance Premier Division South
18 March 2026 | Attendance: 72
Selston produced a superb response to Saturday’s defeat at Melbourne, returning to winning ways in emphatic fashion with a 6–0 victory under the lights at The Parish.
Having already lost twice to Cromford this season, there was a clear intent from the outset. Manager Lee Stevenson made five changes to the starting XI, bringing in Hardman, Layton, Bowering, Black and Hawkins, and the impact was immediate.
Selston dominated possession from the first whistle and took the lead on 20 minutes when Jordan Black’s free-kick was parried into the path of Archie Hawkins, who calmly fired into the bottom corner.
The advantage was doubled soon after, with a powerful strike from Tom Batterham proving too much for the goalkeeper, the ball looping over the line. On 28 minutes it was three, as Alex “Boo” Hardman unleashed a stunning 25-yard effort that crashed in off the bar.
A forced change saw Haywood replace the injured England, but Selston’s momentum continued. Just before the break, Batterham grabbed his second, controlling and finishing sharply from a Hawkins cross.
Half-Time: Selston 4 – 0 Cromford
The second half followed a similar pattern. Hines, introduced from the bench, made it five on 68 minutes after capitalising on a defensive error, while further changes saw Short and Bland enter the action.
Short completed the scoring on 84 minutes, diving bravely to head home from close range — celebrating with a memorable if not bizarre dance.
The result sees Selston move to the top of the table ahead of Saturday’s huge clash with Borrowash Victoria.
Player of the Match
Leighton Bowering – A tireless and influential midfield display, combining creativity with defensive discipline and driving Selston forward throughout.
Manager’s Comment – Lee Stevenson
“That was exactly the response we were looking for. After Saturday, we challenged the lads to show a reaction, and they certainly did that tonight.
The intensity, the quality in possession, and the way we moved the ball was excellent. We were clinical as well, which is something we spoke about — turning good play into goals.
Credit to the whole squad, because the changes we made really worked and everyone contributed. Leighton was outstanding in the middle of the park and set the tone for us.
It puts us in a strong position, but we know there’s a long way to go and a big test coming this weekend. We’ll enjoy tonight and then focus straight on the next one.”

Melbourne Dynamo 3 – 1 Selston FC
Central Midlands Alliance Premier Division South
14 March 2026
Selston’s five-game unbeaten run came to an end as Melbourne Dynamo secured a 3–1 victory in a game heavily influenced by the elements.
Manager Lee Stevenson made four changes from the side that defeated Wirksworth Ivanhoe in midweek, with Batterham, Smith, Reynolds and Hines coming into the starting line-up in place of Whitton, Black, Hardman and Bowering.
On a bright but blustery afternoon — which later produced wind, rain and even hail — Selston began confidently. A series of slick passing moves created several promising opportunities, but the visitors were unable to convert their chances.
Despite Selston controlling large spells of possession, Melbourne took the lead deep into first-half stoppage time. A corner delivered into the box caused confusion in the Selston defence and the ball eventually ricocheted off a defender and into the net.
Half-Time: Melbourne Dynamo 1 – 0 Selston FC
The second half followed a similar pattern, with Melbourne adopting a direct style that utilised their height and physical presence. On 52 minutes the hosts doubled their lead when a long throw into the near post was flicked on and again diverted into the Selston net for a second unfortunate own goal.
Stevenson responded with a double substitution on 68 minutes, introducing Jordan Black and Archie Hawkins for Batterham and Reynolds. The change injected energy into Selston’s play, with Hawkins particularly lively down the left.
Selston pulled a goal back on 70 minutes when a long throw from England was only partially cleared to the edge of the box. Jack Cockram reacted quickest, striking a superb half-volley from 20 yards that flew into the net for his 12th goal of the season.
Further changes followed as Bowering replaced Moore on 78 minutes and Layton came on for Bland two minutes later as Selston pushed for an equaliser.
However, with Selston committing players forward, Melbourne delivered the decisive blow in stoppage time when a swift counter-attack ended with the hosts scoring their third — their first clear opportunity of the half — to seal the win.
It proved a frustrating afternoon for Selston, who dominated possession but were undone by a mixture of unfortunate goals and resilient defending from the hosts.
Selston will now look to respond when they return to The Parish on Wednesday evening to face Cromford.
Man of the Match
Jake Payling – A composed and disciplined display at the back, dealing well with a strong attacking winger and providing stability in difficult conditions.
Manager’s Comment – Lee Stevenson
“It’s a frustrating one because I actually thought our general play was very good for large parts of the game. We created chances and controlled possession, but football can be cruel sometimes and today we were punished for a couple of unfortunate moments.
Conceding two own goals is never ideal, and against a side who were always going to make it physical and direct it makes it very difficult.
The positive is that the attitude and work rate were still there. We’ve been on a good run and one result doesn’t change that. We’ll dust ourselves down and focus on putting things right when we’re back at home on Wednesday.”

Selston FC 4 – 1 Wirksworth Ivanhoe
Central Midlands Alliance Premier South
11 March 2026 | Attendance: 121
Selston finally returned to The Parish after nearly three months away due to the winter weather and marked the occasion with an impressive 4–1 victory over promotion rivals Wirksworth Ivanhoe.
Manager Lee Stevenson made four changes from the side that secured victory in the county cup semi-final, with Payling, Whitton, Black and Bowering coming into the starting line-up in place of Smith, Layton, Hines and Batterham.
Selston started brightly and created several early openings before taking the lead on 18 minutes. A dangerous cross from the right found Alex Hardman, whose glancing header looped into the far top corner to make it 1–0.
The hosts doubled their advantage on 26 minutes when Ty Short met a Jack Cockram corner and powered a fierce header into the net.
Despite Selston’s dominance, Wirksworth were handed a route back into the game on 39 minutes when the referee awarded a penalty for a challenge in the box. Tom Mellor converted from the spot, despite Meehangetting fingertips to the effort.
Half-Time: Selston 2 – 1 Wirksworth Ivanhoe
Selston resumed control after the break and extended their lead on 55 minutes when Whitton rose highest to thunder home a header from an excellent cross from the left.
Hines replaced Bowering on 61 minutes, and shortly afterwards Selston made the game safe. On 65 minutes a long ball forward took a deflection over the defensive line, allowing Jordan Black to race through and nod home Selston’s fourth — remarkably the hosts’ fourth header of the evening.
With the result effectively secured, Stevenson rotated his squad. Batterham replaced Black, before Hawkins and Reynolds came on for Bland and Cockram. Layton also entered the action, replacing Ben Moore.
Selston continued to control possession and created further opportunities but were unable to add to the scoreline. At the final whistle, however, it was a thoroughly deserved victory for a Selston side hitting form at the right time in their promotion push.
Man of the Match
Elliott Bland – An industrious and influential display in midfield, constantly driving Selston forward, linking play, and setting the tempo throughout the match.
Manager’s Comment – Lee Stevenson
“It was great to finally be back at The Parish after such a long spell away. The lads have been excellent in difficult conditions over the last few months and it was important we put in a strong performance at home.
Wirksworth are a very good side and their record this season shows that, so to win the game the way we did was really pleasing. I thought our intensity, movement and quality in the final third were excellent, and scoring four goals — all headers — probably says a lot about the quality of our delivery into the box.
We’re starting to build some real momentum now and the focus is on maintaining that as we push towards the end of the season.”

Notts FA Senior Trophy – Semi Final
AC United 1 – 4 Selston FC
Venue: Forest Sports Zone, Gregory Boulevard
Selston booked their place in the Notts FA Senior Trophy Final with an impressive 4–1 victory over AC United at the Forest Sports Zone.
The trip into Nottingham saw Selston face opposition from the Notts Senior League, with manager Lee Stevenson making three changes from the midweek line-up. England, Moore and Short came into the starting XI replacing Whitton, Payling and Reynolds, the latter dropping to the bench alongside the returning Haywood and Stevenson himself, who was included in the squad for the first time this season.
The opening 20 minutes were tight on a very firm 3G surface, with both sides feeling their way into the contest. However, the match took a decisive turn in the 26th minute when AC United’s number six was shown a straight red card following an off-the-ball altercation with Selston skipper Jack Cockram. The referee acted swiftly after the United defender appeared to strike out.
Selston capitalised on the numerical advantage almost immediately. On 30 minutes a delightful ball from Elliott Bland found Alex “Boo” Hardman arriving at the back post, and the forward struck a superb half-volley from 12 yards which clipped the inside of the post on its way in.
Selston doubled their lead seven minutes later with a moment of individual brilliance. Bland collected the ball 25 yards out and unleashed a thunderous strike which flew over the outstretched United goalkeeper to make it 2–0.
Despite Selston’s dominance, AC United did create a rare opportunity late in the half when England was forced into a foul on the edge of the area, earning a yellow card.
Half-Time: AC United 0 – 2 Selston
The second half began in fractious fashion with several stoppages as the officials faced vocal protests from the home support, who were clearly frustrated by the earlier red card decision.
Selston looked to quieten the crowd on 61 minutes when Tom Batterham made it three. Hines robbed the United full-back before cutting the ball back to the edge of the area where Batterham took a touch and calmly finished into the bottom corner.
Stevenson began to rotate his squad as Selston looked to see out the game. Bowering replaced Layton on 63 minutes, Black came on for Batterham on 68, and Reynolds replaced Cockram on 73.
The changes allowed United a brief spell of pressure and they pulled a goal back on 77 minutes after good work down the flank saw the ball finished at the far post.
Moments later Hines received a yellow card for a mistimed challenge before Selston made another late change in stoppage time with Haywood replacing Hines.
As the clock ticked deep into added time, Selston pushed to fully settle the tie. Blackfound himself repeatedly flagged offside as he looked to break clear, while Hardmanalso received a yellow card for a late challenge on the goalkeeper.
The final moment of the match came in the 102nd minute of an extraordinary amount of added time when Black finally timed his run perfectly, racing through to slot home Selston’s fourth and seal a deserved victory.
Full Time: AC United 1 – 4 Selston FC
Selston now advance to the Notts FA Senior Trophy Final.
Men of the Match – Josh Smith & Ty Short
A colossal defensive display from the Selston pairing. Smith and Short were dominant throughout, dealing with everything AC United threw forward and providing the platform for Selston’s attacking play.
Manager’s Comment – Lee Stevenson
“I’m really proud of the players today. Semi-finals are never easy and credit to AC United who made it a tough game, but I thought we handled it very professionally.
Once we went ahead we controlled large spells of the match and some of the goals we scored were outstanding — Elliott’s strike in particular was special.
Josh Smith and Ty Short were absolutely immense at the back and gave us a real foundation to build from.
Getting to a final is always a huge moment for a club like ours and everyone involved deserves a lot of credit. We’ll enjoy this achievement but when the time comes we’ll be fully focused on trying to bring the trophy back to Selston.”

Selston FC 2 – 1 Bakewell Town
Central Midlands Alliance Premier South
(Half-Time: 1–0)
Attendance: 53
Venue: RH Academy, Mansfield
Selston returned to league action for the first time since November, their schedule heavily shaped by ongoing cup commitments. To guarantee the fixture was played, the match was relocated to the 3G surface at RH Academy in Mansfield.
Manager Lee “Steveo” Stevenson named the same starting XI that secured the recent cup victory, with Hardman replacing the unavailable Payling. New signing Archie Hawkins was named among the substitutes for his first involvement since joining the club.
On a wet and blustery afternoon, the surface remained perfect for football, and Selston made an assertive start. The hosts created several early opportunities, moving the ball sharply on the slick pitch.
The breakthrough arrived in the 21st minute following a superb passage of play. A series of quick one-twos across midfield opened space before Tom Batterham delivered a delightful through ball over the Bakewell defence. Alex “Boo” Hardman timed his run perfectly and smashed home from eight yards to give Selston a deserved lead.
Half-Time: Selston FC 1 – 0 Bakewell Town
The second half began without changes, and Selston looked to build on their advantage. However, fluency was harder to find as conditions worsened and Bakewell began to grow into the contest.
On 59 minutes, the visitors levelled. A ball into the box fell kindly to Bakewell’s number seven, who turned sharply and fired past the keeper to make it 1–1.
The response was immediate. Just four minutes later, a beautifully weighted through ball released Jack Cockram, who marked his birthday in style — smashing home emphatically to restore Selston’s lead at 2–1.
With the advantage regained, Stevenson acted quickly to tighten things up. Layton replaced the tiring Bowering, followed by Hines for Reynolds on 70 minutes. Pashley entered the action on 79 minutes in place of Batterham. As the game edged toward its conclusion, Haywood replaced Moore, adding defensive solidity for the final stages.
Chances became scarce as wind and rain hampered both sides, but Selston managed the closing minutes well to secure a deserved, if not entirely convincing, victory.
Man of the Match – Elliott Bland
A tireless and selfless display from Bland, who worked relentlessly across the middle, pressed intelligently, and provided a constant outlet throughout. His energy set the tone for Selston’s attacking play.
Manager’s Comment – Lee Stevenson
“It was important for us to get back to league action and maintain momentum after the cup run. Conditions weren’t easy, and you could see at times that we’ve not played in the league for a while.
We started well and the first goal was excellent — exactly the type of football we want to play. We perhaps made it harder than it needed to be in the second half, but the reaction after conceding was strong and Jack’s finish was top quality.
It wasn’t perfect, but it’s three points and that’s what matters. We’ll keep working and look to build more consistency in our performances.”

Keyworth United 1 – Selston FC 2
Notts FA Saturday Senior Trophy
Saturday 7th February
After being reinstated into the Notts FA Saturday Senior Trophy following Teversal’s fielding of ineligible players, Selston were immediately back on the road — travelling to Keyworth United for a quarter-final tie on the 3G surface.
With the artificial pitch ensuring the fixture would go ahead despite damp conditions, a strong and expectant away following made the journey to the outskirts of Nottinghamshire.
Manager Lee Stevenson selected an unchanged starting XI, with Layton and Haywood returning to the bench in place of Reynolds and the recently departed Taylor.
The game began in tense and nervy fashion, with both sides adjusting to the conditions. Selston gradually began to take control, enjoying the better share of possession against a tough, physical Keyworth side.
The first major opportunity arrived in the 16th minute when Leighton Bowering was brought down by the goalkeeper inside the area. A penalty was awarded, and Jordan Black stepped up confidently — but his powerful strike down the middle was kept out by the keeper’s legs.
Selston continued to press but found clear-cut chances hard to come by. However, just as the half seemed destined to end goalless, the breakthrough arrived. On the stroke of half-time, Jack Cockram delivered a pinpoint cross from the right, and Elliott Bland, ghosting into space inside the box, rose superbly to guide a composed header into the bottom left-hand corner.
Half-Time: Keyworth United 0 – 1 Selston FC
The second half followed a similar pattern. Selston dominated possession but struggled to create decisive openings, while Keyworth remained a threat through direct play and set-pieces.
On 76 minutes, Hardman replaced the tiring Bowering as Stevenson looked to shore things up defensively with the hosts pushing for an equaliser.
That pressure told in the 86th minute. A long throw into the box was flicked on at the near post, and Keyworth’s winger reacted quickest, volleying first-time from 15 yards to level the score at 1–1.
With the game heading toward penalties for the second consecutive week, Stevenson introduced Pashley in the 91st minute to inject fresh attacking impetus.
Then came the decisive moment. In the 92nd minute, neat play around the edge of the area saw Bland lay the ball into the path of Cockram, who struck it first-time from 22 yards. The effort flew past the goalkeeper and into the net — sparking wild celebrations from players and travelling supporters alike.
Selston held firm through the remaining moments to secure a dramatic 2–1 victory and book their place in the Semi-Finals.
Man of the Match – Elliott Bland
A tireless and intelligent performance from Bland. Opened the scoring with a superbly timed header, worked relentlessly across the front line, and provided the crucial assist for the late winner. Stepped up when it mattered most.
Manager’s Comment – Lee Stevenson
“I’m incredibly proud of the lads today. To come here, on a tough surface against a physical side, and show that level of composure and character says a lot about this group. We controlled large spells of the game and even after missing the penalty we didn’t panic.
Conceding so late would have knocked some teams, but the response was outstanding. To go up the other end and win it in stoppage time shows belief and togetherness. The supporters were fantastic again — they drove us on right until the end.
We’re into a semi-final now, and that’s where we want to be. We’ll enjoy this one, but our focus turns quickly to the next challenge.”

Selston FC 1 – 3 Derby Singh Brothers
Central Midlands Alliance Premier South
Saturday 8th November 2025
Attendance: 139
A poignant afternoon at The Parish began with an impeccably observed minute’s silence, followed by an excellent performance of The Last Post from bugler Jack Marriott, marking Remembrance weekend with great respect and dignity.
Once the whistle blew, the visitors started sharply and took the lead in the 10th minute when a perfectly timed through ball split the Selston defence, allowing the Derby Singh Brothers’ striker to go one-on-one with Meehan, finishing calmly into the bottom corner.
Selston worked hard to settle into the game, but found themselves under pressure from a well-organised visiting side. On 23 minutes, Hardman was shown a yellow card for a late challenge, and things worsened in the 36th minute when Derby Singh doubled their advantage — a superb cross from the right met by Tyler Johal, who headed into an empty net after good work down the wing. Shortly before the interval, Jack Cockram also went into the referee’s book, with the hosts heading into the break two nil down.
Selston emerged brighter after the restart, showing renewed energy and purpose, and were rewarded on 55 minutes when Wayne Cooke rounded the goalkeeper to pull a goal back and reignite hopes of a comeback.
However, those hopes were dashed in the 68th minute when a dangerous low cross from the left caused problems in the Selston box, with Hardman unfortunately turning the ball into his own net under heavy pressure from the attacker to restore the visitors’ two-goal cushion.
Selston continued to press forward and battled until the final whistle, but the visitors stood firm defensively. Whitton received a late booking on 88 minutes as frustrations grew, before the match concluded with Derby Singh Brothers taking all three points.
A spirited effort from Selston, who showed determination throughout, but were ultimately undone by clinical finishing from the visitors.

Selston Football Club embraced the festive season in style this Christmas, bringing together players, families and volunteers from across the club to celebrate what has been another strong year for the Selston football community.
The Junior Section enjoyed its annual Christmas trip, with more than 150 children taking part in a high-energy visit to Freestyle Trampoline Park.
From Soccer Tots right through to the Under 13s, the session was filled with bouncing, somersaults, spins – and plenty of tumbles – as laughter and smiles echoed around the park. It was a fantastic opportunity for young players to celebrate together away from the pitch, reinforcing friendships and team spirit in a fun and inclusive environment.
Not to be outdone, the Under 14s marked the festive period with a thrilling trip to Teamworks Karting. The group tore around the track with competitive enthusiasm, all keen to prove themselves as the next Lando Norris, in an evening that combined excitement, teamwork and plenty of friendly rivalry.
The club’s senior players opted for a more relaxed celebration, enjoying a festive night out with Christmas jumpers very much the dress code of choice. It provided a chance to unwind, reflect on the season so far and enjoy each other’s company away from matchday pressures.
Selston Football Club Chairman, Deene Ball, praised the spirit of the celebrations, saying: “The sense of community at Selston Football Club is something we are incredibly proud of. Being able to bring Christmas cheer to so many young people and their families is a really valuable part of what we do. These moments go far beyond football – they’re about belonging, enjoyment and creating positive memories that last.”
As the festive period drew to a close, Selston Football Club reflected on the year past whilst looking ahead to 2026 with renewed energy, continuing its commitment to football, friendship and community at the heart of Selston.

Notts FA Senior Trophy – 1st Round

Selston Scorers: Batterham (3’), Fairfield (9’, 18’), Haywood (24’), Ward (37’, 42’), Taylor (81’)
SEVEN-STAR SELSTON CRUISE INTO NEXT ROUND
A much-changed Selston side delivered a dominant display at the Parish, sweeping aside East Leake Robins Reserves 7–0 to book their place in the next round of the Notts FA Senior Trophy.
Manager Lee Stevenson used the tie to rotate his squad, handing valuable minutes to several players and giving new signing Elliott Bland his debut in central midfield. The decision paid off immediately as Selston hit the ground running, playing fast, attacking football from the first whistle.
It took just three minutes for the hosts to break the deadlock. A corner from Jack Cockram was met by a firm header that was well saved, but Tom Batterham reacted quickest to sweep home the rebound for his first goal in Selston colours.
The second arrived moments later when another pinpoint cross from Cockram to the back post was nodded across goal by Batterham, allowing Fairfield to volley home. Fairfield struck again on 18 minutes — running onto Ward’s clever header before finishing calmly across the goalkeeper for 3–0.
The goals kept flowing as Henley Haywood grabbed his first for the club on 24 minutes, reacting smartly after Cockram’s shot struck the post to knock the ball into an empty net. On 37 minutes, Hardman was tripped after a mazy run into the box, and Ward confidently converted the resulting penalty. Ward wasn’t finished yet, adding his second and Selston’s sixth just before half-time on 42 minutes — another excellent delivery from Cockram providing the assist.
Half-Time: Selston 6–0 East Leake Robins Reserves
With the game effectively sealed, the second half was a more subdued affair. Selston maintained control and continued to work hard across the pitch, though chances were fewer as East Leake sat deeper to limit further damage.
The final flourish came on 81 minutes when substitute Liam Taylor — inevitably — found the net. Some neat football down the right saw Hardman cut the ball back across goal, and Taylor made no mistake, rifling into the roof of the net from 12 yards to complete the rout.
A professional performance from start to finish — seven goals, seven different contributors, and a comfortable passage into the next round of the competition.
Man of the Match:
Jack Cockram – Four assists, tireless running, and at the heart of everything creative for Selston.
Steveos’s Comment:
“It was a great opportunity to rotate the squad, and the lads didn’t disappoint. The tempo and quality in the first half were outstanding — we showed depth and hunger right across the team.”

SELSTON FC 2–1 HOLBROOK ST MICHAELS

TAYLOR STRIKES LATE AS SELSTON EDGE PAST ST MICHAELS
Selston FC continued their excellent league form with another hard-earned three points, defeating Holbrook St Michaels 2–1 in a tense, competitive encounter at the Parish.
The first half was an even contest, with both sides battling for control in midfield. As the half progressed, Selston began to enjoy more possession and territory, forcing St Michaels deeper into their own half. On 40 minutes, the visitors were reduced to ten men temporarily when one of their players was sin-binned for dissent — perhaps unsurprising given the running commentary from both players and management toward the referee throughout the half.
Moments later, Selston made the breakthrough. On 41 minutes, George Layton stepped up and unleashed a superb strike from 25 yards that flew into the bottom corner, giving the hosts a deserved lead heading into half-time.
Holbrook came out strongly after the restart, while Selston looked a little flat in the opening stages. On 50 minutes, Layton picked up a yellow card for a foul, and just two minutes later, St Michaels levelled the score after a misplaced pass at the back gifted possession — the visiting forward taking full advantage, smashing home a powerful shot from distance into the top corner.
That goal seemed to wake Selston up, and from there they pressed forward with purpose, dominating possession and creating several good openings. The decisive moment finally came in the 88th minute: Cooke drove into the box and squared the ball for Cockram, whose effort looked to be drifting wide — until Liam Taylor instinctively stuck out a knee to divert it into the net from close range.
A dramatic finish and a deserved victory for the Parish men, showing resilience, patience, and belief right to the final whistle.
Man of the Match:
George Layton – A tireless display in midfield capped with a stunning long-range opener.
Steveo’s Comment:
“We had to grind that one out. It wasn’t our most fluent performance, but the lads kept going and found a way to win — that’s what good teams do.”

MICKLEOVER SPORTS RESERVES 0–5 SELSTON FC

Selston Scorers: Short (43’), Taylor (54’), Cockram (59’), Cooke (62’), Reynold (74’)
SEARING SECOND HALF SEES SELSTON HIT FIVE ON THE ROAD
Selston FC continued their impressive run of form with a dominant 5–0 away victory over Mickleover Sports Reserves, a result built on patience, persistence, and a devastating second-half display.
The first half proved a frustrating one for the visitors, who struggled to find space against a compact Mickleover defense. The breakthrough finally came on 43 minutes when Ty Short rose highest to meet a Cockram corner, heading firmly home to give Selston the lead just before the interval.
After the break, Selston stepped up the tempo. The home goalkeeper was quickly called into action several times before Liam Taylor doubled the advantage on 54 minutes — finishing with a superbly struck volley at the back post after excellent work down the right from Hines.
The floodgates opened soon after. On 59 minutes, Jack Cockram continued his fine scoring form, reacting quickest to poke home the rebound after his initial shot had been saved. Just three minutes later, it was 4–0, Hardman delivering a clever cross for Cooke, who took a neat touch before rifling into the net.
The scoring was rounded off on 74 minutes when debutant Fairfield saw his shot blocked in the box, and returning midfielder Reynolds was on hand to sweep home the loose ball and complete a fine away performance.
A clinical display from the Parish men, keeping the momentum rolling ahead of next week’s cup clash back under the lights.
Man of the Match:
Ty Short – A tireless display, capped with a superb headed goal.
Steveo’s Comment:
“We were patient, and once we found our rhythm, the lads were ruthless. The second-half performance was excellent — great energy, movement, and finishing all round.”

A glorious day on the Parish and a fantastic turnout for Chairman’s Day 2025 saw Selston FC deliver another strong performance, defeating Holbrook Sports 3–1 to continue their fine run of form.
With the sun shining and a crowd of 341 in full voice, the hosts started brightly and took the lead early on. A mix-up at the back saw the Holbrook keeper fail to clear his lines, allowing Cockram to pounce on the loose ball and fire home from eight yards.
Selston doubled their advantage on 31 minutes with a superbly worked move. Cockram again was involved, bursting down the right before delivering a pinpoint cross that found Liam Taylor, who guided the ball into the bottom corner with a precise one-touch finish.
Holbrook began the second half with intent and pulled one back on 51 minutes from a free kick on the edge of the box — a harsh decision against Short, who appeared to win the ball cleanly. The visitors pressed for an equaliser, but Selston’s organisation and work rate held firm.
The decisive moment came on 79 minutes when another poor clearance from the Holbrook goalkeeper fell to Taylor, who unselfishly slipped the ball through for Cockram to slot home his second and seal the victory.
A fitting result for Chairman’s Day — three goals, three points, and a proud day for everyone connected with the club.
Man of the Match:
Jack Cockram – Two goals, relentless energy, and a constant attacking threat.
Manager’s Comment:
“It was a perfect day for the club — a big crowd, great atmosphere, and the lads delivered. We looked sharp, defended well, and deserved the win. A great way to mark Chairman’s Day.”
